– Carton board (Tetra Top) = about 62 g CO2e


– HDPE = about 176 g CO2e


This corresponds to: The global warming impact of driving a new EU car (158 g/km, 2007) about 0,7 km


-          Total consumption of chilled milk, juice and nectar in Denmark (almost 500 million litres)


corresponds to:


– Only carton board (Tetra Brik Edge & Tetra Top) = about 24,000 ton CO2e/year


– Only HDPE = about 85,000 ton CO2e/year


 

Emissions linked to packaging seem to be significantly lower for carton board (Tetra pak) rather than High-density polyethylene containers. However there is still room for improvement in material use (especially usage of plastic) and distribution of filled packaging (distance, fuel, cargo capacity utilisation).

Emissions corresponding to

Emissions corresponding to packaging seem to be significantly lower for carton board (Tetra Pack) rather than High-density polyethylene containers. However, there is still room for improvement regarding material use (especially plastic consumption) and distribution of filled packaging (distance, fuel, cargo capacity utilisation) which have a strong negative impact in terms of carbon emissions and eutrophication.
